Oregon State University student newspaper The Daily Barometer has received the Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best All-Around Student Newspaper in the 2025 Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 Mark of Excellence Awards.
The SPJ Region 10 Awards comprise the top student media programs in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Winners in each category go on to compete in the national SPJ awards.
Orange Media Network received three other first-place Mark of Excellence awards, and two entrants placed as finalists:
- Winner: Feature Photography, "The Art of Goth" - Max Flecker, DAMchic
- Winner: Feature Videography - Kate Zaine, "DAMchic On Display"
- Winner: Photo Illustration, "Swinging Symbolism" - Aisling Gazzo, Rylie Frydenlund, DAMchic
- Finalist: Best Ongoing Student Magazine - DAMchic
- Finalist: Sports Writing, "Women's Basketball fights against all odds" - Ethan Browning, The Daily Barometer
Orange Media Network is an award-winning student media program at Oregon State University. It is home to six student-run mediums: The Daily Barometer, the student newspaper; Beaver's Digest, the lifestyle magazine; DAMchic, the fashion magazine; PRISM, the arts and literature magazine; KBVR-FM, the student radio station; and KBVR-TV, the student TV station. Photography, engineering, sales, marketing and creative graphic design support the six mediums to inform, entertain and engage the OSU community.
