CORVALLIS - Neil Forsberg, an Oregon State University associate professor of animal science, will serve as director of OSU's International Degree Program.

Forsberg will work part-time in the position while maintaining his research and teaching activities in the Department of Animal Sciences.

The International Degree Program helps OSU undergraduates put an international perspective into their studies. A minimum of 32 extra class credits in international courses are required. A forestry major could add classes such as "Global Crises in Resource Ecology," while a business major could opt for "Politics of Developing Nations."

Requirements for the degree also include 10 weeks of overseas study or internship and foreign language study.

Students enrolled in the program graduate with a bachelor's degree in their primary field, plus a bachelor's in International Studies.

Forsberg earned his doctorate in nutrition at the University of California at Davis in 1983. He joined OSU in 1985 and has focused his research on hormonal control of growth in domestic animals and ruminant nutrition.
