CORVALLIS - Two Oregon State University students from Klamath Falls have earned OSU's Eva M. Seen Scholarships.

Heather Cavanaugh and Wende McClay, both 1993 graduates of Klamath Union High School, are OSU juniors in exercise and sport science.

Seen was director of the Department of Physical Education for Women at OSU from 1935-65. The scholarships in OSU's College of Health and Human Performance honor her memory and are awarded to selected women exercise and sport science majors for outstanding scholarship, leadership and potential for future achievement.

Cavanaugh, who will receive $3,000, is focusing on physical activity and development and fitness program management. She plans to pursue a doctorate in exercise physiology. She has spent summers working in sports programs at Klamath Union High School.

McClay, who will receive $1,000, is focusing on fitness program management and plans a career in corporate wellness and fitness program development. She is active in OSU's Gamma Phi Beta Sorority Food Drive and in raising funds for the Children's Miracle Network.
