CORVALLIS - Scholarships totaling more than $50,000 have been awarded to students in the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences. Receiving the 1996-97 awards are:

ADRIAN: Manuel Michel, son of Manuel and Eladia Michel. The 1994 graduate of Adrian High School is majoring in agricultural business management. His $750 scholarship is given by Cenex Foundation.

ALOHA: Amy Keniston, daughter of Richard and Janet Keniston, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1995 graduate of Hillsboro High School received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship.

BEND: Brook Uffelman, daughter of Toni Turner and Pete Uffelman, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1992 gradate of Bend High School attended Central Oregon Community College before transferring to OSU. She received the $1,000 Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman scholarship.

BROGAN: Michael McGourty, son of Patrick and Marcia McGourty, is studying crop and soil science in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon State College. The 1993 graduate of Vale Union High School attended Treasure Valley Community College before entering the OSU program on the La Grande campus. He received the $1,000 James H. Weatherspoon scholarship.

CANBY: Phil Hansen, son of Lloyd and Cindy Hansen, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1994 graduate of Molalla High School received the $1,250 Earl Meier Dairy Science Memorial scholarship.

CASCADE LOCKS: Shelly Kuhnhausen, daughter of Bruce and Carol Daniel, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1993 graduate of Hood River Valley High School received the $400 Doris Mardis Tibbetts Memorial scholarship.

CORVALLIS: James Faulkner is majoring in wildlife science. Originally from Michigan, he received the $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship.

Timothy Hazzard, a doctoral student in animal sciences, entered OSU from Cornell University. The California native received the $250 Friends of Oregon Agriculture scholarship.

Virginia Loeschen, daughter of Gordon and Rebecca Loeschen, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1994 graduate of Corvallis High School received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship.

Grace Parsons, majoring in horticulture, attended the University of Alaska before entering OSU. She received the $3,250 Don Burlingham scholarship.

Kevin Wilson, son of Richard and Virginia Wilson, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1993 graduate of Crescent Valley High School received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship.

COTTAGE GROVE: Melissa Simonsen, daughter of Darrell and Marolyn Simonsen, is majoring in crop and soil science. The 1994 Cottage Grove High School graduate received the $3,250 Don Burlingham scholarship. DUNDEE: Amelia Caruso, daughter of Mike and Amy Caruso, is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine. The 1993 graduate of Newberg High School attended Washington State University before entering OSU. She received the $500 scholarship given by Yamhill and Washington Counties Women for Agriculture.

HARRISBURG: Russell Baker, son of Richard and Arlene Baker, is majoring in crop and soil science. The 1991 graduate of Christ's Center received the $3,250 Don Burlingham scholarship.

HOOD RIVER: Amy Poole, daughter of Don and Cindy Poole, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1993 graduate of Hood River Valley High School received a full tuition Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman scholarship worth $3,447.

IMNAHA: Darla Marks, daughter of Don and Bonnie Marks, is majoring in general agriculture. The 1994 graduate of Joseph High School received the $1,000 Leo L. Anderson, Jr., Memorial Extension scholarship.

JOHN DAY: Misty Morris, daughter of John and Charlene Morris, is studying agricultural business management in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon State College. She is a 1994 graduate of Grant Union High School. She received a $750 scholarship given by Cenex Foundation and the $1,000 E.R. Jackman Foundation enrichment scholarship.

KEIZER: Michael Conway, son of Rudy and Nancy Puente, is studying bioresource research. The McNary High School graduate entered OSU from Portland State University. He received a $250 award from the Friends of Oregon Agriculture.

MADRAS: Melissa Nartz, daughter of Bob and Lynn Hair, is majoring in agricultural business management. The 1996 graduate of Madras High School received a $1,000 Malcolm Johnson scholarship.

Gary Richards, son of Martin and Nancy Richards, is studying crop and soil science. The 1995 graduate of Madras High School received a $1,000 Malcolm Johnson scholarship.

McMINNVILLE: Paul Rozek, son of Janice and Len Rozek, is majoring in horticulture. The McMinnville High School graduate entered OSU from Chemeketa Community College. He received the $250 award given by the McMinnville Women's Garden Club.

MEDFORD: Heidi Montgomery, daughter of Sarah Montgomery, is majoring in crop and soil science. The 1993 North Medford High School graduate received the full tuition Paul Culberton Memorial Scholarship worth $3,447.

MILTON-FREEWATER: Amy Lefore, daughter of Ron and Dona Lefore, is a pre-general agriculture major in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon State College. The 1995 graduate of McLoughlin Union High School received a $1,000 Leo L. Anderson, Jr., Memorial Extension scholarship and a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship.

MITCHELL: Aurora Zamora, daughter of Jaime and Naty Zamora, is majoring in agricultural and resource economics. The 1993 graduate of Mitchell High School received a $750 scholarship given by the Cenex Foundation.

NEWBERG: Daniel Matthiesen, son of Randy and Marsha Matthiesen, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1994 graduate of Newberg High School received a full tuition Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman scholarship worth $3,447.

OREGON CITY: Jennifer Hodgkiss, daughter of Ted and Joan Hodgkiss, is majoring in agricultural and resource economics. She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University before entering OSU. The Gladstone High School graduate received a $750 award given by the Cenex Foundation.

PORTLAND: Deven Holmgren (97220), son of Raymond and Penny Holmgren, is majoring in horticulture. The Parkrose High School graduate entered OSU from North Carolina State University. He received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship.

POWELL BUTTE: Thomas Currier, son of Art and Liz Currier, is majoring in animal sciences. The 1996 graduate of Crook County high school received the $500 H. H. Gibson Memorial scholarship.

REDMOND: Jilinda Lewis, daughter of Nancy Chlarson and Henry Lewis, is studying animal science. The 1994 graduate of Redmond High School received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship.

SALEM: Destinee Chapin, daughter of Bruce and Velan Chapin, is majoring in crop and soil science. The 1995 graduate of Gervais High School received a $1,000 Leo L. Anderson, Jr., Memorial Extension scholarship.

SCIO: Ryan Hayes, son of Clark and Cheryl Hayes, is majoring in crop and soil science. The 1994 graduate of South Albany High School received a $1,000 James H. Weatherspoon scholarship.

SILVERTON: Elizabeth Howard, daughter of Nancy and Glenn Barker, is studying agricultural and resource economics. The 1993 Silverton Union High School graduate received a $750 award from the Cenex Foundation.

SPRINGFIELD: Jennifer Zuber, daughter of Betty Stickney, is majoring in animal science. The 1993 graduate of South Eugene High School entered OSU from Lane Community College. She received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship.

SUBLIMITY: Rebecca Fisher, daughter of Douglas and Nancy Fisher, is majoring in agricultural and resource economics. The 1993 graduate of Silverton Union High School received a $750 award given by the Cenex Foundation.

TILLAMOOK: Todd Leonnig, son of Tom and Jane Leonnig, is an animal science major. The 1994 Tillamook high school graduate received a Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman full tuition scholarship valued at $3,447.

UNION: Megan Kleck, daughter of Jack and Gloria Kleck, is an animal science major. The 1996 graduate of Union High School received a $500 H.H. Gibson Memorial scholarship.

 

CALIFORNIA LODI: Daniel Voit, son of David and Wendy Voit, is majoring in food science and technology. The 1996 graduate of Lodi High School received the $1,200 Donald Welp Memorial scholarship.

 

CONNECTICUT NEW HAVEN: Adam Ryan, son of Michael and Mary-Ellen Ryan, is majoring in crop and soil science. The Wilbur Cross High School graduate entered OSU from Southern Connecticut State University. He received the $400 Ben and Ethel Pubols scholarship and the $200 Harry and Dorothy Schoth Memorial scholarship.

 

MISSOURI KANSAS CITY: Gabriel Parkison, son of John and Jami Parkison, is studying forest engineering through the college's bioresource engineering program. The Pembroke Hill school graduate received a $500 E.R. Jackman Foundation enrichment scholarship.
