CORVALLIS - Anita Hill, a University of Oklahoma law professor who gained national recognition during confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, will speak at Oregon State University on March 4-5.

All tickets to a free public lecture by Hill on March 4 at OSU's LaSells Stewart Center already have been distributed.

The lecture will also be shown in other, smaller auditoriums at the OSU center on closed circuit video. Tickets are still available for the video presentation - in the Engineering Auditorium and agricultural meeting rooms of LaSells Stewart Center.

They can be obtained from: OSU's Memorial Union Program Council office; Rice's Pharmacy, 901 NW Kings Boulevard, Corvallis; Linn-Benton Community College Student Programs; the White Rose, 201 1st Avenue N.W., in Albany.

During her lecture, Hill will discuss sexual harassment and its impact on campus environments. Among the questions she will address are:

• What behavior is considered sexual harassment?
• How should people combat such behavior?
• What appropriate steps should be taken if an organization has no procedures for handling such matters?

On Tuesday, March 5, Hill will participate in a student forum from 11 a.m. to noon in OSU's Milam Auditorium to discuss "Race, Class and Gender." The forum, sponsored by OSU's University Honors College, will include students from the Honors College and Willamette Valley high schools and middle schools.

Hill is working on two books, one a memoir of her testimony at the Thomas hearings and another about race and gender issues in the 1990s.

Her appearance is part of the OSU Convocations and Lectures Speaker series and is open to the public without charge. It is also sponsored by the OSU's University Honors College and Linn- Benton Community College.
