CORVALLIS - A May 13 lecture at Oregon State University will focus on "Secrets of a Family Business: Speak Up or Put Up."

In Eugene, business owners can also hear the address by Jean Mater, vice president of forest products marketing at Mater Engineering in Corvallis, via a distance learning link with the University of Oregon.

Mater is OSU's 1996 L.W. "Bill" Lane, Jr. Distinguished Lecturer in Family Business. Mater Engineering has provided consulting engineering and marketing services to forest industries worldwide for more than 40 years.

She is recognized for her role as a business leader in Oregon and in the forest products industry, including receiving the Willamette Valley Research Man of the Year Award; serving on the Federal Reserve Board, Portland; and being elected a fellow of the Society of American Foresters.
