CORVALLIS - Shih-Lien Lu, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Oregon State University, is the first recipient of the newly established Electrical and Computer Engineering Engelbrecht Award.

The award, which consists of a certificate and $10,000, will be made annually to a young faculty member in this field of study to support and recognize exceptional scholarly and teaching accomplishments.

The award was established by Christel and Rudolf Engelbrecht. Rudolf Engelbrecht is an OSU associate professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering.

Lu, who received the College of Engineering Carter Award for Inspirational Teaching in 1995, received his doctorate from UCLA in 1991 and has been on the OSU faculty since that time. His areas of expertise include computer systems design, ASIC design, CAD algorithms and self-timed circuits and systems.
