CORVALLIS - The College of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University has named the 1996 recipients of its Outstanding Senior awards.

Students were nominated for the award by faculty within the college on the basis of grade point average, extra-curricular activities, and service to the university and community.

Recipients of the awards are:

ALBANY:

Jennifer Stoller, English: Received the 1995 Smith Book Award for an undergraduate paper; served on the university's promotion and tenure committee; nominated for USA Today's 60 Best College Students' Award; and has been accepted into the law school at Tulane University.

Kimberly E. Stevens, French and political science: Received the 1995 Waldo-Cummings Outstanding Senior Award at OSU; worked as an intern for Project Vote Smart, a political information service; and participated in Everybody's Neighborhood, a group that sponsored a multi-cultural, multi-religious awareness day in the community.

BEND: Susan Prock, philosophy: Worked as a staff member and programming coordinator at the OSU Women's Center; served on various university task forces on women's issues; was an intern for CALYX Publishing in Corvallis; and was president of the philosophy club.

COOS BAY: Lisa Selthon, psychology: Has maintained a near perfect grade point average; received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Waldo-Cummings Outstanding Student Award and the College of Liberal Arts Dean's Scholarship; and has been ASOSU vice president.

LAKE OSWEGO: Leslie Ruminski, sociology: Has been a team leader for the last three years in a Portland program called "The Portland Plunge," which works with the poor, sick and elderly in the metropolitan area - by serving in soup lines, painting shelters and interacting with the homeless; she plans to intern this fall with a social services group, "College Plus One," in Washington, D.C.

OTTER ROCK: William Malcohm McGuigan, sociology: A single parent who has volunteered for - and helped keep alive through leadership and fundraising - a program called "Expanding Horizons," which targets helping youths in public housing; volunteered for the local Children Services Division.

SALEM: Tawnya Lancaster, Department of English: Has been active in OSU theater; and conducts volunteer work for the Children's Burn Awareness Fund in Corvallis, a group seeking to educate parents and children about fire and burning dangers in the household.

ST. PAUL: Lori Zielinski, history: Has been a Presidential Scholar at OSU for

four years; received the Zoe Perrin and OSU Student Alumni Scholarships; has been president of Talons, and Cardinal Honors; was secretary of Mortar Board; chaired the Student Foundation Scholarship Committee; is a member of the OSU dairy judging team; and worked on the editorial staff of the Valley Library on a book, "The Pauling Symposium."

MONTANA

BILLINGS: Robert Lippy, psychology: Has been a volunteer math and science tutor at Crescent Valley High School; has tutored fellow Native American students through OSU's Indian Education Office; is president of the Native American Student Association; and is scheduled to receive his U.S. Naval commission in June.
