CORVALLIS - T-shirts with messages concerning acts of violence against women will be strung on clotheslines in Oregon State University's Memorial Union Quad from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 29.
Women from the community are invited to visit campus and create their own T-shirt based on their personal experiences, said Melissa Burgess, spokesperson for OSU's Saferide, which is sponsoring the event.
Trained counselors will be available for women wishing to discuss concerns, Burgess said.
The project is an educational effort that was formed in 1990 by The Cape Cod Women's Agenda to serve as a memorial to women who have been victims of violence.
Shirts vary in color according to the nature of the violence, Burgess said.
