CORVALLIS - An Oregon State University business professor has earned the 1996 Lifetime Achievement in Accounting Education Award.

Patricia Frishkoff, founder and director of OSU's Austin Family Business Program, will receive the award from the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants at the society's awards night presentation on May 16 in Portland.

Frishkoff became a CPA in 1977 and has been with OSU since 1978.

The award is presented annually by the society, in concert with the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, to a CPA and educator who has made significant contributions to the educational community.

Frishkoff has developed and taught more than 100 workshops for family business owners and in 1989 received the Freedom Foundation's Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education.

Family businesses account for half of the nation's gross national product and for more than 90 percent of the businesses in Oregon, Frishkoff said. The Austin Family Business Program offers educational programs and conducts research to serve those businesses and strengthen the economic base of the Pacific Northwest.

The Austin Family Business Program was dedicated on Oct. 14, 1994, and is named for Joan and Ken Austin, who were integral in formalizing the family business program concept at OSU.
