CORVALLIS - Oregon State University researchers will present their research findings on topics ranging from cereal growing to weed and slug control at the annual Hyslop Farm field day on Wednesday, May 29.

The free public event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

OSU President Paul Risser will articulate his vision for the future of agriculture and natural resource programs at OSU in a talk beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The field day will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Hyslop Farm, five miles northeast of Corvallis on Highway 20. The morning schedule will include updates on OSU cereals project, barley variety testing, septoria research, the federal Farm Program, slug control and flax.

Participants will be able to choose from several field tours of plots and visit in depth with researchers.

The Oregon Wheat Growers League and the Oregon Seed Council are sponsoring lunch on-site at noon.

Afternoon field tours begin at 1 p.m. and will feature research on grasses, meadowfoam development, blind seed, ergot and nematode surveys, weed control in grasses and nitrogen management.
