CORVALLIS - A class of 24 men and women were added to the Diamond Pioneer Registry of the Oregon State University College of Agriculture in ceremonies Monday (Oct. 21) in Corvallis.

Members of the group were honored for their career contributions to Oregon agriculture and related industries, said Judy Modrell, program coordinator for the college.

The new class of Diamond Pioneers represent livestock and poultry producers, former OSU faculty members and 4-H leaders, among others. Many were leaders of commodity groups in the state and many were active in community programs.

Honored were Donald Gomes Sr., Antelope; David Densley, Baker City; George Hall, Beaverton; Hal Schudel, Blodgett; Robert Raleigh, Burns; Steve Eyman, Canby; Charles Fischer, Dale Kirk and Roy Young, Corvallis; John Grimes, Dallas; Donald Johnson, Eugene; Walter Crouse, Grants Pass; Manning Becker, Gresham; L.J. "Les" Marks, Hermiston; Elden McRobert, Hillsboro; Carmelita "Dot" Halvorsen and Ruth McCabe, Ione; Roland Schaad, La Grande; J. Gray Thompson, Milwaukie; Howard Delano, Oregon City; John S. "Jiggs" Fisk, Pendleton; Conrad Burmester, Portland; Doug Chambers, Salem, and Thomas Skinner, Caldwell, Idaho.
