CORVALLIS - Fred Ramsey, a professor of statistics at Oregon State University, has been named a fellow of the American Statistical Association.

The honor recognizes an individual's outstanding professional contribution and leadership in the field of statistical science. This group is one of the nation's oldest professional associations and has 18,500 members.

Ramsey does research on statistical analysis of wildlife populations, time series analysis, stochastic processes and other topics. He received his doctorate from Iowa State University in 1964 and has been on the OSU faculty since 1966.
