CORVALLIS - Jack Higginbotham, an associate professor of nuclear engineering at Oregon State University, has received the Elda E. Anderson Award from the Health Physics Society.

This award recognizes excellence in research and education in the field of health physics. Higginbotham is the Reactor Administrator at the OSU Radiation Center, a consultant to private industry and the U.S. Department of the Interior, and a recognized teacher and mentor for students studying health physics.

He received his doctorate in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University in 1987 and has been on the OSU faculty since that time.

The Health Physics Society is an international professional organization dedicated to the protection of people and the environment from unnecessary exposure to radiation.
