CORVALLIS - Robert Michael, an associate professor of exercise and sports science at Oregon State University, has received The Honor Award from the northwest district of a national professional organization.

Michael was honored by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The Honor Award is the highest honor presented by the association. It is given for "outstanding service provided at the local, state, district and national levels of the profession."

Active in the association since 1973, Michael has served as president of the Oregon Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Alliance, as well as president of the regional organization.

He has been on the OSU faculty since 1968.
