CORVALLIS - Topics ranging from snake pheromones to undersea exploration and environmental adventures in Europe will be explored in the 12th annual "Visual Cascade of Science" on Saturday, April 18, at Oregon State University.

Sponsored by the OSU College of Science, this popular one-day program is designed for high school students, their parents and teachers from across Oregon. It is free and the morning session is open to the public.

As one part of OSU's recognition of National Science Week, the goal of this event is to stimulate student interest and awareness of careers in mathematics and science through short, highly visual presentations of research. Leading OSU scientists will make several presentations during the morning, and the afternoon sessions are reserved for laboratory demonstrations and displays across campus.

Labs in entomology, biology, anatomy and physiology, chemical analysis, geography, human performance and biomechanics, electron microprobes and other areas will be available for student tours.

The program will begin with registration at 9 a.m. in Milam Auditorium on the OSU campus. A free lunch will be provided to students and teachers with reservations made by April 13.
