CORVALLIS - Everything from a Renaissance Fair to wine tasting and fashion shows are awaiting the more than 3,000 mothers of Oregon State University students who are expected to arrive at OSU for Mom's Weekend '98 from May 1-3.
Many activities, including the annual Interfraternity Council Sing, movies and comedy shows are open to the public.
There are a number of additions to the program schedule this year, said Kelly Vaughn, OSU's Mom's Weekend director.
"We're holding the Renaissance Fair two days, Friday and Saturday, to give people more of an opportunity to attend," Vaughn said.. "There'll also be a 'Look-A-Like' contest to see which parent and child look most alike."
This year's featured comedian, Mark McCollum, will perform at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, in OSU's CH2M-Hill Alumni Center. Tickets are $12. McCollum mixes cartoons with the guitar to produce an evening of zany songs and comic routines. His comedy album, "Kill The Wabbit" by Ozzy Fudd was one of most requested albums of 1997 on The Dr. Demento Radio Show.
Most events are organized by OSU's Memorial Union Program Council. For information and tickets, contact the MUPC at 541-737-6872.
