CORVALLIS - The Department of Music at Oregon State University Department of Music will sponsor an all-day High School Vocal Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 30.

The workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. in OSU's Benton Hall, and is designed to encourage and instruct young vocal performers interested in classical solo performance, and to help them prepare for solo and ensemble contests and festivals.

High school choral directors and voice instructors are also encouraged to register and observe any or all of the sessions. Students will learn about vocal technique, stage presence, theatrical presentation, and enjoy individual vocal performance coaching with workshop faculty. Participants will be asked to sing a classical solo song of their choice for their coaching session.

Workshop faculty are OSU music department vocal and choral instructors Gary Frame, Paul Guthmuller, Richard Poppino, Maggie Daane, Lisa Berkson Platt, and Jill Soltero. OSU staff accompanist Rebecca Jeffers and other faculty members will provide piano accompaniment.
