CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will ring in the year of the tiger with a Chinese New Year dinner show at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, at the OSU Memorial Union Ballroom.

Tickets for the event are $8 general admission, $4 for children, and include dinner and entertainment. Tickets will be available at the door.

Festivities are sponsored by the OSU Chinese Students and Scholars Association.

The Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar, which has a 12-year cycle. The year flips to 4696 - the year of the tiger. People born in the year of the tiger are reputed to have more strengths than weaknesses, including passion, confidence and courage. Tigers are also said to possess a great deal of good luck.
