CORVALLIS - The Department of Apparel, Interiors, Housing and Merchandising at Oregon State University is hosting a day-long career fair for its students that is open to the general public.

The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 23, at LaSells Stewart Center.

Representatives from a number of companies will discuss trends in their fields. Companies represented include Ann Sacks Tile, Designtex, Hartman Ltd., Home Depot, Jantzen, JC Penney, Jerry's Home Improvement Center, Lang's Manufacturing, Inc., Meier and Frank, Neil Kelly, Nike, Nordstrom, Smith Brothers, SRG Partnership, Talbots, Tufenkian Oriental Rugs, and Yoder and Associates.

Keynote speaker is Larry Miller, vice president of U.S. apparel for Nike. His talk will begin at 9 a.m.

From 10 to 11 a.m., concurrent sessions will be held on these topics: "A Day in the Life of an Apparel Designer," "Housing and Interiors: Who do You Call?" and "Retailing: Buying and Selling."

Sessions from 11 to 11:50 a.m. include "Manufacturing: From Product Design to Merchandising" and "Housing and Interior Round Table Topics."

Recent OSU graduates will discuss their experiences in sessions from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
