CORVALLIS - Fisheries management, seafood processing and the environmental impacts of fishing are among the topics of a free nine-week commercial fishing seminar series at Oregon State University.

The talks, which are open to the public, are scheduled each Wednesday through March 11 from 3-5 p.m. in Room 235 of OSU's Wilkinson Hall. For information, contact Laurie Jodice at 541-737-1340.

Speakers include commercial fishermen, and state, federal and university analysts.

On Jan. 14, commercial fishing gear and techniques is the focus, followed on Jan. 21 by fisheries management agencies and authorities, regulations and laws. The series wraps up on March 11 with a session on aquaculture and recreational fisheries.

The series is sponsored by OSU's College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences and Oregon Sea Grant Extension. Oregon State University conducts the only comprehensive oceanographic and atmospheric research programs in Oregon and the university's research efforts extend throughout the world.
