CORVALLIS - Gabor C. Temes, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Oregon State University, has received the 1998 Graduate Teaching Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The award, which included a bronze medal, certificate and $2,000 honorarium, recognized Temes' "inspirational teaching, research guidance of graduate students and authorship of widely-used graduate level textbooks."

Temes received his doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa in 1961, has served on the faculty of both Stanford University and UCLA, and has been on the OSU faculty since 1990.

In his career he has guided about 25 students to their doctoral degrees and 70 to master's degrees. Temes has co-authored several textbooks that are prominently used in his field and published about 300 professional papers in engineering journals and conference proceedings.
