CORVALLIS - Roy Arnold, provost and executive vice president at Oregon State University, has received the Carl R. Fellers Award from the Institute of Food Technologists.

The award honors a member of that organization and Phi Tau Sigma - a food science honorary society - who has "enhanced the profession through leadership, service and communication skills."

Arnold, a past-president of the Institute of Food Technologists, was cited for using his administrative abilities to exert a positive influence on programs in food science and technology. Before accepting the position as provost, he was dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences at OSU.

An OSU faculty member since 1987, Arnold holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. from Oregon State.

Before coming to OSU, he was vice chancellor of the Institute of Agricultural and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
