CORVALLIS - An Oregon State University sophomore from Bend has been elected vice president of the OSU Memorial Union Program Council.

Karianne Stinson, a 1996 graduate of Bend High School, will formally take office on July 1. Stinson, an OSU sophomore in liberal studies, is a member of the OSU chapter of Chi Omega sorority and the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society.

The Memorial Union Program Council is a student-run group that organizes activities for students, faculty and the community. Concerts, comedy shows, lectures, movies, holiday celebrations and Mom's and Dad's Weekends are among the activities coordinated by the council. The council, with 15 committees, is the largest student programming group on campus.
