CORVALLIS - Applications are now being accepted for two Oregon State University summer programs for gifted, talented and creative learners.

The deadline for applications is March 15.

The "Explorations" program for students who just completed grades three or four will be held July 6-17, meeting in half-day morning sessions at a Corvallis public school. Possible course offerings include such topics as computers, drama, claymation, creative writing, foreign language, mask making and chess.

The "Adventures in Learning" program for students who just completed grades five, six or seven will be July 6-17, meeting for full-day sessions on the OSU campus. More than 30 courses are available in such areas as archeology, molecular biology, rocket science, Shakespeare, entomology and world cultures.

"Each of these programs allows students to interact with faculty members from OSU and other institutions, outstanding public school educators and professionals with expertise in particular fields," said Judy Michael, director of the Adventures in Learning program. "Students can anticipate academic stimulation, an exciting learning environment and many new friendships."
