CORVALLIS - Three Oregon State University students received $1,000 cash awards today (May 14) as part of the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences' annual Great Achievements of Students Celebration.

The recipients are:

SILVERTON

Elizabeth Howard, who will receive a bachelor of science degree in agricultural and resource economics in June, was named the Capital Press Outstanding Senior in Agriculture. Howard, who has been admitted to the Lewis and Clark College's law school for the fall, is the daughter of Glenn and Nancy Barker of Silverton. She is a graduate of Silverton Union High School.

UNION

Jenny Wing, who will receive a bachelor of science degree in microbiology in June, was named the Burlingham Undergraduate Student of Excellence. Wing, the daughter of Mark and Judy Wing of Union, is a graduate of Union High School.

CHINA

Lailiang Cheng, a doctoral degree candidate in horticulture, was named the Savery Outstanding Graduate Student. Cheng attended Shandong Agricultural University in China.
