CORVALLIS - A highly successful fall blood drive at Oregon State University has officials of the American Red Cross looking toward a repeat performance in February.

"The OSU November blood drive reached 116 percent of goal," said Douglas Tracy, Red Cross senior consultant for donor services. "That's the highest total number of units collected since 1989."

Red Cross workers set a goal of 940 units of blood for the three-day November OSU drive, Tracy said. Volunteers donated a total of 1,087 units. OSU is the largest donor to the American Red Cross in the Northwest region.

"All of our people were just exuberant, really, really exuberant, and they're looking forward to the February blood drive at OSU," Tracy said.

The winter campus blood drive is set for Feb. 9-11.
