CORVALLIS - Prospective students will have an opportunity to explore college life at Oregon State University's annual Beaver Open House on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The event is designed for high school seniors, community college transfers, and others interested in attending OSU, said Louan Johnson, who is involved in coordinating the event. Students interested in attending Beaver Open House should call the OSU Office of Admission and Orientation at 1-800-291-4192.

Students unable to attend Beaver Open House are encouraged to schedule individual campus visits, Johnson said. The university's team of undergraduate recruiters are currently enrolled OSU students who lead individual campus visits and share their collegiate experiences.

"Most parents attending Beaver Open House want to learn about financial aid and scholarships," Johnson said, while students are more interested in housing, social activities and academic programs.

Open House starts at 8 a.m. at OSU's LaSells Stewart Center and the adjacent CH2M-Hill Alumni Center. While registration is taking place, an activities fair will offer information on OSU programs, including the University Honors College, ROTC and Exploratory Studies, as well as the 11 academic colleges.

During the day, sessions are scheduled with representatives from academic areas, as well as housing, financial aid, admission and other sectors of the university. A number of tours and open houses will be available.

Also planned is a special "mini-workshop" for transfer students to help analyze their transferrable credits.
