CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Extension Service and the OSU Department of Animal Sciences will offer presentations in Douglas, Lake and Klamath counties on Nov. 10, 11 and 12 on the winter feeding value of locally grown forage.

The sessions will compare the quality of local hay to livestock nutrient requirements, according to Shelby Filley, a livestock and forages agent in the Douglas County Extension Office.

The presentation dates, times and locations follow:

Filley, Porath, Hathaway and Jim Males, head of OSU's Department of Animal Sciences, will speak at the sessions.

Their topics: "Components of Forage: Hay Analysis," "Matching Resources with Animal Requirements," "Mineral Nutrition Deficiencies," "Winter Feeding Study: The Oregon Feed Library" and "Nutritional Supplements: Cost and Effectiveness."
