PRINEVILLE - Keys to survival and success in family-owned business and ways to pass businesses to future generations are among the topics of a Oregon State University workshop in Prineville next month.

Geared for business owners, successor candidates, spouses and key managers, The Austin Family Business Program at Oregon State University, with sponsorship by U.S. Bank, is holding a series of succession workshops throughout Oregon.

The Prineville workshop is set from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Ochoco Lumber Co., 1500 Paulina Highway. Cost is $65 per person, or $50 for business customers of U.S. Bank and includes the workshop, materials and lunch. For information or registration, call the Austin Family Business Program at 1-800-859-7609 or 1-541-737-3326.

Through discussions and hands-on learning activities, business owners will have a chance to consider leadership, ownership and relationships as related to succession. Participants will learn about effective planning and hear from a panel of family business owners who will share their succession stories. An hour tour of the Ochoco Lumber Co. follows the workshop.
