VANCOUVER, Wash. - Keys to survival and success in family-owned business, and ways business owners can pass their businesses to future generations are among the topics of an Oregon State University workshop in the Vancouver area next month.

Geared for business owners, successor candidates, spouses and key managers, The Austin Family Business Program at Oregon State University - with sponsorship by U.S. Bank - is holding a series of succession workshops throughout the Northwest.

The Vancouver workshop is set from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Aphis Ready Mix corporate offices, 201 Park Plaza Drive. Cost is $65 per person, or $50 for business customers of U.S. Bank and includes the workshop, materials and lunch. There will be a tour of Aphis Ready Mix Concrete, 18606 S.E. 1st St., Camas, following the workshop. For information or registration, call the Austin Family Business Program at 1-800-859-7609 or 541-737-3326.

Through discussions and hands-on learning activities, business owners will have a chance to consider leadership, ownership and relationships as related to succession. Participants will learn about effective planning and hear from a panel of family business owners who will share their succession stories.
