PRINEVILLE - Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program will work to help young family members and their parents address succession - passing a business from one generation to another - at an April 17 workshop in Prineville.

The session, which is offered with sponsorship by U.S. Bank, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon at Pioneer Cut Stock, Prineville Industrial Park, Lamonta Road. Participants can see another family business in action on a tour of Pioneer Cut Stock hosted by Brian and Chris Davis from noon to 1 p.m.

A similar program will be offered in a separate workshop on the Corvallis campus on April 24.

Multi-generational teams of two are required to register for the workshop. Cost for the workshop is $75 for the team or $50 for the team if they are U.S. Bank customers. To register, or for more information, call toll-free 800-859-7609 or 541-737-3326.

Designed as a hands-on, "to-the-point" workshop, the focus of the session is to give multiple generations an opportunity to learn the basics, share experiences and concerns with other families, and develop an action plan for succession.

With discussions within and between generations, and hands-on learning activities, families will consider issues such as leadership, ownership, relationships and experience. Participants will learn about effective planning and have a chance to hear from a panel of family business members who will share their succession stories.
