CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's annual Mom's Weekend celebration begins on Friday, April 30, with art exhibits, a Renaissance Fair and a comedy show by "Saturday Night Live," veteran Kevin Nealon.

Most Mom's Weekend activities, which continue through Sunday, May 2, are open to the public, including the annual Interfraternity Council Sing, movies and exhibits.

Continuing a tradition began last year, the Renaissance Fair - which features arts, crafts and foods - will be held both Friday and Saturday. Also on Saturday, the College of Veterinary Medicine's annual Pet Day celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year's featured comedian, Kevin Nealon, is scheduled for a two-hour performance starting at 8 p.m. April 30 in Gill Coliseum. Tickets are $12 and $15. Nealon is best known for his work as anchorman on "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update."

Friday, April 30

• All Day: Moms admitted free to Dixon Recreation Center; Memorial Union Concourse exhibit featuring the works of four local artists; attend classes with sons or daughters; "Trek to Saluwesi," wall sculptures by Lee Kelly, Fairbanks Art Gallery.

   

• 8:30 a.m. - noon: "Photography on the Color Line, by W.E.B DuBois," Center for the Humanities.

   

• 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Lonesome Pot Sale, MU Student Lounge.

   

• 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.: Renaissance Fair, MU Quad.

   

• 1 - 4 p.m.: "Photography on the Color Line, by W.E.B DuBois," Center for the Humanities.

   

• 3:30 p.m.: Fashion show dress rehearsal, MU Ballroom.

   

• 4 - 10 p.m.: Moms admitted free to the OSU Climbing Center.

   

• 6 p.m.: Mom's Weekend movie, "Patch Adams," Milam Auditorium, $3.
