CORVALLIS - Scholarships totaling more than $93,000 are being shared by more than 50 students in the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences.

The scholarships, established by the E.R. Jackman Foundation, have been awarded to students in the college's programs at Eastern Oregon University as well as on the Corvallis campus.

Those receiving scholarship awards are:

 

  • Amity

    Justin Prine and Megan Prine, children of Bill and Robin Prine. Justin, a 1995 graduate of Wilson High School and a senior in agricultural business management, received a $750 Cenex Foundation award. Megan, a 1996 graduate of Wilson High School and a junior in crop and soil science, received a $3,000 James H. Weatherspoon scholarship.

     

  • Bend

    Elisa Hall, daughter of Kit and Jeni Hall, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The 1996 graduate of Bend Senior High School is a junior majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Boardman

    Kristi Mason, daughter of Dean and Joyce Mason, received a $750 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger undergraduate scholarship. She is a 1998 graduate of Riverside High School and a freshman majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Brooks

    Bryan Henny, son of Marc and Bonnie Henny, received both a $3,000 Don Burlingham scholarship and a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. He is a 1996 graduate of Gervais High School and a junior in agricultural business management.

     

  • Burns

    Zola Gibson, daughter of Irvin and Karen Gibson, received a $400 Pubols Agriculture Scholarship. She is a 1996 graduate of Burns High School and a junior majoring in rangeland resources.

     

  • Carlton

    Paul Kuehne, son of Harold Kuehne, received a $250 award given by the McMinnville Women's Garden Club. He is a 1995 graduate of Newberg High School and a senior in general agriculture.

     

  • Central Point

    Danell Blair, a 1995 graduate of Crater High School and a senior in animal sciences, and Chadd Griffin, a 1997 graduate of Crater High School and a sophomore in agricultural and resource economics, received full tuition Culbertson Memorial scholarships valued at about $3,600. Their parents are Daniel and Leta Blair and Jim and Anna Griffin.

     

  • Condon

    Jason Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Campbell, received a $750 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate scholarship. He is a 1998 graduate of Condon High School and a freshman in animal sciences.

     

  • Corvallis

     

    • Receiving $1,200 Jess Hanson scholarships were: Hilary Derry, daughter of Robert and Patricia Derry, a 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School and a sophomore in agricultural and resource economics; Leah Gross, daughter of Pauline Gross, a 1996 graduate of Corvallis High School and a sophomore majoring in bioresource research; SreyRam Kuy, daughter of Sovanna Soeung, a 1996 graduate of Crescent Valley High School and a senior majoring in microbiology; Avery McCombs, son of Loretta Rivard and Delbert McCombs, a 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School and a sophomore majoring in bioresource research.
    • Janel Holroyd, daughter of Joyce and Jerry Holroyd, received the College of Agricultural Sciences Dean's full tuition scholarship valued at about $3,600. She is a 1995 graduate of Corvallis High School and a sophomore majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Cove

     

    • Benjamin Case, son of Rodney Case, received both a $3,000 James Weatherspoon scholarship and a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. He is a 1993 graduate of LaGrande High School and a junior in crop and soil science in the OSU program on the Eastern Oregon University campus.
    • Elizabeth Coleman, daughter of David and Cathy Coleman, received a $750 Cenex scholarship. She was home schooled a received her GED in 1994. She is majoring in agricultural business management on the OSU Corvallis campus.

     

  • Eagle Point

    Heidi Scheffler, daughter of Jerry and Mary Scheffler, received a $1,600 Leo L. Anderson, Jr. Memorial Extension scholarship and a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. She is a 1994 graduate of Eagle Point High School and a senior in agricultural business management.

     

  • Eugene

    Douglas McCullen, son of Owen and Joan McCullen, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. He is a 1984 graduate of North Eugene High School and a senior majoring in horticulture.

     

  • Hermiston

    Robert Brunick II received the $600 Harry and Dorothy Schoth Memorial scholarship. He is a 1991 graduate of Hermiston High School and a senior in crop and soil science.

     

  • Hood River

    Amy Krahn, daughter of Don and Cindy Poole, received the $6,198 graduate College of Agricultural Sciences Dean's scholarship. She is a 1993 graduate of Hood River Valley High School and is pursuing her master of agriculture degree in agricultural education.

     

  • Independence

    Eric Kirk, son of Joseph and Deborah Kirk, received the $2,500 Johnny R. Thomas scholarship. Kirk is a 1994 graduate of Central High School and is a master's student pursuing a degree in crop science.

     

  • Irrigon

    Ryan Evans, son of Kenn and Mary Evans, received a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. He is a 1992 graduate of Riverside High School and a senior in agricultural business management in the OSU program on the Eastern Oregon University campus.

     

  • Jefferson

     

    • Erin Ball, daughter of Frank and Patti Ball, received a $3,000 Don Burlingham scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of Jefferson High School and a senior majoring in crop and soil science.
    • Bridget Robinson, daughter of Don and Sue Robinson, received a $1,600 Leo L. Anderson Jr. Memorial Extension scholarship and an $800 Doris Mardis Tibbetts Memorial scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of Jefferson High School and a senior in crop and soil science.

     

  • Madras

    Jody Nartz, daughter of Bob and Lynn Hair, received the $1,500 Malcolm Johnson scholarship. She is a 1998 graduate of Madras High School and a freshman studying agricultural and resource economics.

     

  • Milton-Freewater

    Amy LeFore, daughter of Ron and Dona LeFore, received a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of McLoughlin Union High School and a senior studying general agriculture.

     

  • Mitchell

    Jessica Carroll, daughter of Mike and Susie Carroll, received a $1,000 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of Mitchell High School and a sophomore majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Molalla

     

    • Roxanne Johnson, daughter of Reed and Shirley Johnson, received a $2,040 College of Agricultural Sciences Dean's scholarship. She is a 1997 graduate of Molalla High School and a sophomore studying general agriculture.
    • Kyle Ross, son of Larry and Marilynn Ross, received the $1,500 Wayne and Joann Chambers scholarship and a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. He is a 1997 graduate of Silverton High School and a sophomore majoring in crop and soil science.

     

  • Monmouth

    Brett Freeborn, son of Claude and Lana Freeborn, received a $1,000 Johnny R. Thomas scholarship. The 1994 Central High graduate is a junior studying crop and soil science.

     

  • Mt. Angel

    Gretchen Grant, daughter of Mike and Mary Grant, received a $3,000 Don Burlingham scholarship. She is a 1996 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a junior studying general agriculture.

     

  • Oregon City

    Chris Lorion, son of Roger and Carol Lorion, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The 1993 Oregon City High graduate is a senior in fisheries science.

     

  • Prineville

     

    • Scott Cruikshank, son of Chuck and Nancy Cruikshank, received a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. He is a 1995 graduate of Crook County High School and a junior in agricultural business management.
    • Amanda Hancock, daughter of Richard and Cheryl Hancock, received a $500 Thornton FFA scholarship. She is a 1998 graduate of Crook County High School and a freshman in pre-veterinarian studies in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon University.

     

  • Rainier

    Heidi Shelburg, daughter of Mike and Melanie Stewart, received the $2,400 Earl Meier Dairy Science Memorial scholarship. She is a 1996 graduate of Rainier High School and a junior studying general agriculture.

     

  • Rogue River

    Michelle Zipperman, daughter of Joanne and Keith Ward, received a full tuition Culbertson Memorial scholarship valued at about $3,600. She is a 1994 graduate of North Medford High School and a senior majoring in bioresource research.

     

  • St. Paul

    Annette Buyserie, daughter of Doug and Margaret Buyserie, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. She is a 1996 graduate of St. Paul High School and a junior majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Salem

     

    • Destinee Chapin, daughter of Bruce and Velan Chapin, received a $3,000 Don Burlingham scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of Gervais High School and a senior in crop and soil science.
    • Anne Taylor, daughter of Vern and Shirley Connolly, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. She is a 1977 graduate of Antioch High School, Antioch, California, and a junior majoring in bioresource research.

     

  • Sheridan

    Rhonda Kirkham, daughter of Robert and Sharon Kirkham, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. She is a 1997 graduate of Willamina High School and a sophomore majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Silverton

    Duane Ditchen, son of David and Wilma Ditchen, received a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. He is a 1995 graduate of Salem Academy and a senior majoring in crop and soil science.

     

  • The Dalles

    David Ortega, son of Juan and Cheryl Ortega, received a $1,000 Donald Welp memorial scholarship and the $500 Alpha Gamma Rho Foundation scholarship. He is a 1996 graduate of The Dalles High School and a junior majoring in food science and technology.

     

  • Tillamook

     

    • Kimberly Durrer, daughter of Robert and Elaine Durrer, received a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship. She is a 1995 graduate of Tillamook High School and a senior majoring in agricultural business management.
    • Denise Josi, daughter of Donald and Desi Josi, received a full tuition College of Agricultural Sciences Dean's scholarship with a value of about $3,600. She is a 1996 graduate of Tillamook High School and a sophomore majoring in animal sciences.
    • Kurt Mizee, son of Bart and Terry Mizee, received a $2,040 College of Agricultural Sciences Dean's scholarship. He is a 1995 graduate of Tillamook High School and a junior in animal sciences.

     

  • Welches

    Nathaniel Couture, son of Robert and Bonnie Couture, received a $1,000 Donald Welp Memorial scholarship. He is a 1995 graduate of Sandy Union High School and a senior majoring in food science and technology.

     

  • Willamina

     

    • Belinda Mendenhall, daughter of Jeff and Phyllis Mendenhall, received the $500 H. H. Gibson Memorial scholarship and a $500 Thornton FFA scholarship. She is a 1998 graduate of Willamina High School and a freshman studying animal sciences.
    • Daniel Reid, son of Chris and Kathy Rankin, received a $750 Cenex Foundation scholarship and the $500 Yamhill County Women for Agriculture scholarship. He is a 1995 graduate of Willamina High School and a senior majoring in crop and soil science.

     

  • CALIFORNIA: Santa Ynez

    Melissa Williams, daughter of Steven Williams, received the $360 Ben and Phyllis Newell scholarship. She is a 1997 graduate of Santa Ynez High School and a sophomore majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • SOUTH DAKOTA: Rapid City

    James Faulkner, son of Thomas Faulkner, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. He is a 1990 graduate of Rapid City Central High School and a senior majoring in wildlife science.

     

  • ISRAEL: Herzlia

     

    Uri Hetz, son of Rana Hetz, received a $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. He is a 1986 graduate of Ironi Herzlia School and a senior majoring in food science and technology.
