CORVALLIS - Tom Miller, a professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University, has been selected the outstanding student chapter faculty adviser for the zone four of the 1999 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Miller was selected from 48 eligible candidates from the western United States region of this professional group for his work and dedication as faculty adviser. The student chapter also received an honorable mention for its outstanding activities during 1998.

"He knows when to lead and when to let others shine," students wrote in their nomination of Miller. "His support and quiet leadership has given the officers confidence in our abilities to succeed."

Miller will receive a plaque and other recognition.
