CORVALLIS - Retiring Oregon State University professor Dale Weber's 22-year career with OSU's Department of Animal Sciences will be recognized with a ceremony and a scholarship that will bear his name.

The Dale W. Weber Animal Sciences Scholarship will be an endowed fund to benefit OSU undergraduates in agriculture who study animal sciences.

Known to his students as "Doc," Weber has served as head adviser to the students for 18 years. Weber, who will continue to teach through the spring, said he will devote his time after retirement both to volunteer work and to assisting the animal sciences department in his recently-bestowed status of professor emeritus.

"I've appreciated the opportunity to work here for these years," Weber said. "I don't intend to disappear."

Weber's retirement celebration for colleagues, former students and friends, is scheduled for May 29 at the Valley Football Center at OSU.

Those interested in attending are asked to make reservations before May 14 by contacting Laurel Busse, office manager at the Animal Sciences building, at 737-1890.
