CORVALLIS - "Cool Shoes," a ballroom dance troupe from Oregon State University, will present its annual spring concert on Saturday, May 22, at LaSells Stewart Center.

Tickets for the performance, which begins at 8 p.m., are priced at $8 for general admission and $6 for students and seniors. They are available at Rice's Pharmacy, Grass Roots Bookstore, through members of Cool Shoes, or at the door.

Directed by Cathy Dark, Cool Shoes will perform quick-step and Charleston routines from The Roaring 20s, swinging 1940s rhythms, and West Coast swing numbers.

The troupe will share the stage with other local talent, including Wild Country, which will perform country waltz; and OSU jazz dance students, who will perform to a variety of musical styles.

Bettina Megowan, an OSU graduate and former world class rhythmic gymnastics performer, will perform a routine called "Beneath the Surface," which was created by OSU faculty member Carol Soleau.

The concert also will feature international flair. Students will perform an Israeli dance suite and a suite from the Balkans, while Kalamajka, an Oregon-based Hungarian dance troupe, will present a Transylvanian routine.

The concert is sponsored by OSU's College of Health and Human Performance.
