CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will hold a series of hearings on Thursday, May 27, to receive public input on a series of proposals that would amend university rules regulating housing, motor vehicle use and offenses, and set fees and charges for the 1999-2000 academic year.

The public hearings will begin at noon in Memorial Union Room 105.

One proposed rule amendment, which lists offenses for which the university may take disciplinary action against individuals or organizations, simply adds the violation of university rules to the list. It also includes federal and state law, and city and local ordinances.

The university also is seeking to gain flexibility in family housing assignments by creating eligibility priority for two- and three-bedrooms units. The amendment would more quickly make available vacant apartments to applicants on other waiting lists. The maximum length of tenancy also would increase, from three to four years.

A proposed amendment would clarify the ban on vehicles permitted within the central campus from 8 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. on Friday. The amendment would not affect persons with disability permits or those parking in the metered pay lot by the OSU Book Store.

The proposed amendment to adopt fees for 1999-2000 includes all of the fees and charges for designated services at OSU. A complete list of fees and charges is available at the OSU Business Office in Kerr Administration Building and at The Valley Library.
