CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host a pep rally and a taped replay of the 1998 Civil War football game at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.

The rally, which is free and open to the public, is a prelude to the 103rd Civil War game between the OSU Beavers and the University of Oregon Ducks, which begins at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in Eugene.

The event will start in the OSU Memorial Union Lounge with an introduction by Steve Smith of the OSU Alumni Office. Following will be a pep rally featuring the "Pompon Dude," Benny Beaver and the OSU Beaver cheerleaders.

After the rally, "A War for the Ages," a three-hour commercial-free tape of the 1998 Civil War football game will be shown. Produced by OSU Athletics, the tape documents the Beavers' 44-41 double overtime win against the Ducks in Corvallis last fall.

The tape features sideline comments taped throughout the game by former OSU head coach, Mike Riley, who was wearing a remote microphone for the production. The tape also includes scenes from the Beaver victory celebration in the locker room following the game.

The event is sponsored by the Memorial Union, OSU Athletics and the Memorial Union Program Council.
