CORVALLIS - A 24-hour Veterans Day candlelight vigil honoring American prisoners of war and those missing in action begins with a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Oregon State University's Memorial Union Quad.

Activities will begin with the Air Force ROTC Silver Talons Drill Team in a missing man formation.

Guest speaker Harry Kingsley, president of the Coos Bay Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will speak about his experiences as a prisoner of war in Korea, followed by a 21-gun salute. There will also be a flyover by military F-15 jets from the Portland Air National Guard.

Following the opening ceremonies, a 24-hour vigil will be held by campus ROTC cadets. OSU Army and Naval ROTC students will also participate.

The Veterans Day event is coordinated by OSU's Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps James L. Badley squadron of the Arnold Air Society. Arnold Air Society is a nationwide ROTC honors society, founded in 1951.
