CORVALLIS - Oregon State University is turning the first weekend of December into a holiday festival with the university's 19th annual Holiday Market and free children's community holiday party. The Holiday Market will be held Dec. 3-4 and the children's party is set for Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4, said Machelle Kennedy, coordinator of OSU's Memorial Union Program Council.

Registration for the holiday party starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the campus Memorial Union Lounge. OSU student "elves" will assist children throughout the party, Kennedy said.

Party events are from 1- 4 p.m. and are geared for children ages 5-11. Activities include cookie decorating, holiday crafts, dancing, singing, bingo, tree ornament making and snacks. Adults are welcome to visit the OSU Holiday Market in the adjacent MU Ballroom while children attend the party.

Holiday market hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 3-4, said Kent Sumner, OSU Craft Center manager.

There will be about 70 vendors at the holiday market, as well as live music performances. "The main focus of the Holiday Market is that it features fine handmade crafts that make perfect gift items," Sumner said.
