CORVALLIS - Alumni returning to Oregon State University for Homecoming Weekend Oct. 21-23 will find many of the traditional offerings along with some new surprises.
Oregon State will play UCLA in the traditional football game, kick-off is scheduled for 3:38 p.m. Saturday, but there have been some big changes for the football program since last year. Parker Stadium has been re-named Reser Stadium to honor the Reser family of Beaverton for its seven-figure gift to the university's athletic department, and a new turf has been installed in the stadium.
The Beavers also have a new head coach, Dennis Erickson, who has won two national championships and moved OSU closer to its first winning season since 1970.
The OSU Alumni Association is welcoming back to campus three Alumni Fellows - former congressman Rod Chandler, businesswoman Janet Ford, and president of the Providence Alaska Foundation, Rebecca Parker. The three will be honored at a free public reception Friday at 4 p.m. at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center.
For the first time in recent years, Homecoming will feature a Friday night concert. Pepe & the Bottle Blondes, a Portland-based swing-salsa band, will play Gill Coliseum at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and $5 for OSU students.
Also on tap are the alumni barbecue, bonfire, Beaverwalk, Fan Fair, Classes Without Quizzes, and the traditional Homecoming reunions.
