CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Department of Music will present its annual honors recital on Sunday, May 7, at LaSells Stewart Center.

The recital, which begins at 3 p.m., features solo and ensemble performance by 21 outstanding music students. Graduating performance and music education students will be honored, and top students will receive awards. A reception follows the recital. The event is free and open to the public.

The singers selected to perform are Melissa Jenkins, mezzo-soprano; Camelia Nine, soprano; and Erik Hundtoft, baritone. The vocalists will perform songs by Reynaldo Hahn, Douglas Moore, and E.W. Korngold.

Violinist Liesel Bauer will perform Beethoven's Sonata No. 5 in F Major. Pianist Dow Yeh will perform Frederic Chopin's Nocturne in C Minor. Percussionist John Donohue will perform Charles Delancey's "The Love of L'Histoire."

The program includes two flutists: Pippa Barton, performing Prokofiev's Sonata for Flute in D; and Jonathan Haek, who will perform portions of Jules Demersseman's "Le Carnaval de Venise." Aaron Barnes, alto saxophone, will perform Eugene Bozza's Aria for Alto Saxophone and Piano. Brett Randolph, piccolo trumpet, will perform Vincenzo Bellini's Concerto.

J.S. Bach's Fugue No. 9 will be performed by a trumpet choir consisting of Toshi Kosaka, Molly Simonson, Brett Randolph, and Jon Dysinger. The OSU Small Jazz Ensemble will perform Horace Silver's "Nica's Dream." The ensemble includes Kevin Pardew, guitar; Damon Doelger, alto saxophone; Joe Freuen, trombone; Matt Caulkins, tenor saxophone; Ben Kinkley, trumpet; Miles alden, bass; Erik Baker, drums; and Steve Fulks, piano.

Piano accompanists will be music department faculty members Rebecca Jeffers, Angela Carlson, and Nicola Nine.
