CORVALLIS - Dianne W. Hart, former director for Latin America of the Global Graduates Program at Oregon State University, will give a free public lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 29, on the ties between Oregon and Latin America.
Her talk, "Mapping the Connections Between Oregon and Latin America," will begin at 7 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 206.
A senior instructor of Spanish at OSU, Hart has received numerous awards for her leadership in foreign language programs, promotion of global understanding, and foreign language teaching. She has written two books on Latin American experiences: "Thanks to God and the Revolution: An Oral History of a Nicaraguan Family" and "Undocumented in LA: An Immigrant's Story."
Hart's talk is part of the OSU College of Liberal Arts Faculty Lecture Series, "Thinking in Public," which features Oregon State faculty members who recently have received awards and distinction for their contributions to public culture and a broader understanding of public issues.
The series gives OSU faculty an opportunity to talk about aspects of their life's work and recognizes the human nature of academic life.
