CORVALLIS - Michael J. Taylor has been named head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University.

In this position, Taylor will coordinate instruction and research in veterinary anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathology and toxicology. The department has 18 faculty positions and 12 staff members, and also includes operations of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

Taylor most recently was professor and head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. An expert in reproductive biology, immunology and endocrinology, he received his doctoral degree from the University of Oxford and veterinary medical degree from the University of Cambridge. He is a widely published researcher and has received numerous career honors and awards.

The OSU College of Veterinary Medicine is the only professional school of its type in the state, and conducts wide ranging programs of veterinary research, student education and public service through its Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Veterinary Extension programs.
