ALBANY - Robin Galloway, a long-time volunteer in local Oregon State University Extension Service programs, is the new 4-H agent in the Linn County office of the OSU Extension Service. She succeeds Bill Smiley who retired.

"Galloway is a perfect fit for this position," said Linn County Extension staff chair Alex Munoz. "We are fortunate to have someone with her experience as a club leader to head up the Linn County 4-H Youth program."

The new Linn County Extension 4-H agent is not new to the OSU Extension Service. She was a technology outreach agent in Linn and Benton Counties in 1991-93 while working for the Linn-Benton Regional Strategies Economic Development Program. The project was funded by state government and staffed by the OSU Extension Service.

Galloway has lived in the Corvallis-Albany area for many years. She graduated from Corvallis High School in 1974 and went on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees in agriculture at OSU. For the past six years, Galloway has been the marketing director for Coastal Farm and Home Supply stores, based in Albany.

Galloway says she is looking forward to being involved in 4-H programs again because she places high value on the traditions of 4-H and the concepts the program offers to young people.

"Teen years are tough," said Galloway. "Participation in a 4-H program can go a long way in helping youth figure out what they want to do with their lives, and how to get there."
