CORVALLIS - More than $85,000 in scholarships have been awarded during the 1999-2000 academic year to students continuing their studies in Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Sciences. The students are enrolled in programs on the Corvallis campus and on the Eastern Oregon University campus in La Grande.

Scholarship recipients include:

AMITY: Megan Prine, daughter of Bill and Robin Prine, received the $500 scholarship given by Yamhill County Women for Agriculture. She is majoring in crop and soil science.

ASHLAND: Miranda Ruth, daughter of Jerry Ruth, received the full-tuition Culbertson Memorial scholarship valued at more than $3,500. The 1998 graduate of Ashland High School is studying animal sciences.

AUMSVILLE: Amy Belden, daughter of James and Cynthia Belden, received the $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. She entered OSU from Chemeketa Community College to study crop and soil science.

BEND:

 

  • Peter Chambers, son of Brad and Shirleen Chambers, received the $1,000 Donald Welp Memorial Scholarship.

     

  • Elisa Hall, daughter of Kenneth and Jennifer Hall, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship to assist in her studies in animal sciences.

BOARDMAN: Kristi Mason, daughter of Dean and Joyce Mason, received the $1,000 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate Scholarship. The 1998 graduate of Riverside High School is studying animal sciences.

BROOKS: Bryan Henny, son of Marc and Bonnie Henny, received a $750 scholarship given by Cenex Harvest States Foundation. He entered OSU from Chemeketa Community College to study agricultural business management.

BURNS: Zola Gibson, daughter of Irvin and Karan Gibson, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship. She is studying rangeland resources in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon University after transferring from Treasure Valley Community College.

CARLTON: Dannelle Aleshire, daughter of Dan and Jody Aleshire, received a full tuition James H. Weatherspoon Scholarship valued at $3,561. The Newberg High School grad entered OSU from Portland Community College to study crop and soil science and work in the college's bioresource research program.

CHRISTMAS VALLEY: Marlene Mensch, daughter of Richard and Carolyn Mensch, received a $750 Cenex Harvest States Foundation scholarship. The North Lake High School graduate is studying general agriculture.

CONDON: Kacee Kennedy, daughter of Dewey and Rena Kennedy, received a $750 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate Scholarship. The 1999 graduate of Condon High School is studying in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon University. Brad Lathrop, son of Allen and Dawn Lathrop, received a $1,250 Jaeger Undergraduate Scholarship. He is studying rangeland resources in the OSU program at EOU.

CORVALLIS:

 

  • Brandy Alvis, who is studying natural resources, entered OSU from Linn-Benton Community College. She received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. Her parents are Mary and Wally Eichler.

     

  • Scott Cruikshank received a $750 scholarship given by Cenex Harvest States Foundation to aid him in his studies of agricultural business management. His parents are Chuck and Nancy Cruikshank.

     

  • Hilary Derry, daughter of Robert and Patricia Derry, is majoring in agricultural business management. The 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship and a $750 award from Cenex Harvest States Foundation.

     

  • Leah Gross, daughter of Pauline Gross, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. The Corvallis High School graduate is enrolled in the college's bioresource research program.

     

  • Kale Haggard is majoring in crop and soil science at OSU after previously studying at Portland State University and Southwest Texas State University. Haggard received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship.

     

  • Jody Hansen, daughter of Jeff and Paula Hansen, received a $1,200 Jess Hanson scholarship. She is majoring in horticulture. The Corvallis High School graduate previously attended the University of Washington.

     

  • SreyRam Kuy is majoring in microbiology at OSU. The Crescent Valley High School graduate received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. Kuy's mother is Sovanna Soeung.

     

  • Jennifer Neville, daughter of Dennis and Peggy Neville, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship and the $800 Doris Mardis Tibbetts Memorial scholarship. The Corvallis High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Wenona Phillips, daughter of Samuel and Cheryl Phillips, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. The Crescent Valley High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Jennifer Radke, daughter of Edward and Janet Radke, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. The Corvallis High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Megan Sether, daughter of Rand and Robin Sether, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. The Corvallis High School graduate entered OSU from Linn-Benton Community College to study animal sciences.

     

  • Adam Smith, son of Stephen and Karen Smith, received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship. The Crescent Valley High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

     

  • Melissa York, majoring in fisheries and wildlife science, received a $250 Friends of Oregon Agriculture award. She is the daughter of Dan and Judy Souza.

COVE: Elizabeth Coleman, daughter of David and Cathy Coleman, received a $400 Pubols Agriculture scholarship. She is majoring in agricultural business management.

EAGLE POINT: Jennifer Stanley, daughter of Eugene and Connie Stanley, received a full tuition Culbertson Memorial scholarship valued at $3,561. The Eagle Point High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

FOREST GROVE: Jeremy Knox, son of Ken and Sandy Knox, received the $1,000 H. H. Gibson Memorial scholarship. The 1999 graduate of Forest Grove is planning to major in agricultural business management.

GRESHAM: Cory Ducey, who is majoring in crop and soil science, received the full tuition James H. Weatherspoon scholarship valued at $3,561. Robin and Peggy Ducey are the parents of the Sam Barlow High School graduate, who first attended Weber State University.

HALSEY: Anna-Marie Pimm, daughter of John and Jackie Pimm, received a $750 Cenex Harvest States Foundation scholarship. She transferred to OSU from Linn-Benton Community College to study general agriculture.

HILLSBORO: Randy Scarlett, son of Mark and Mabel Scarlett, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship The Hillsboro High School graduate is studying fisheries and wildlife science.

HOOD RIVER: Adam Poole, son of Don and Cindy Poole, received a $1,000 Donald Welp Memorial scholarship. The Hood River Valley High School graduate is majoring in food science and technology and horticulture.

INDEPENDENCE:

 

  • Craig King, son of Dennis and Susan King, received a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. The Central High School graduate is studying crop and soil science.

     

  • Eric Kirk, son of Joe and Debbie Kirk, received the $2,500 Johnny R. Thomas scholarship. He entered OSU from the University of Arizona to study crop and soil science.

LA GRANDE: Andrew Diacetis, son of Paul and Cathy Diacetis, received a $400 Pubols Agriculture scholarship. The La Grande High School graduate is studying food science and technology.

MADRAS: Melissa Nartz received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The Madras High School graduate is majoring in agricultural and resource economics. She is the daughter of Jim Nartz and Lynn Hair.

MALIN: Ryon Ottoman, son of Jim and Gail Ottoman, received the $1,500 Wayne and Joann Chambers scholarship. The Lost River High School graduate is studying crop and soil science.

MCMINNVILLE:

 

  • Troy Hyder received the $750 scholarship given by the McMinnville Women's Garden Club. He is majoring in horticulture. Hyder's parents are Mark and Sandy Hyder.

     

  • Brooks Rodman received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The McMinnville High School graduate is studying crop and soil science. Rodman's parents are Mark and Teleda Rodman.

MITCHELL: Jessica Carroll, daughter of Mike and Susie Carroll, received a $1,250 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate scholarship. The Mitchell High School graduate is studying rangeland resources.

MOLALLA: Kyle Ross, majoring in crop and soil science and agricultural business management. He received a $500 Alpha Gamma Rho Foundation scholarship, a full tuition Don Burlingham scholarship valued at $3,561 and a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. The Silverton Union High School graduate is the son of Larry and Marilynn Ross.

MONMOUTH: Brett Freeborn received a $1,000 Johnny R. Thomas scholarship. The 1994 graduate of Central High School is enrolled in crop and soil science. Freeborn's parents are Claude and Lana Freeborn.

MT. ANGEL: Gretchen Grant, daughter of Mike and Mary Grant, received a $750 scholarship given by Cenex Harvest States Foundation. The John F. Kennedy High School graduate is majoring in general agriculture.

MYRTLE CREEK: Matthew Lawhead, son of Doug and Althea Lawhead, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The South Umpqua High School graduate is studying fisheries and wildlife science.

NEHALEM: Carrie Koch, daughter of Ron and Irene Koch, received the full tuition Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman scholarship valued at $3,561. The Neah-Kah-Nie High School graduate entered OSU from Linn-Benton Community College to study animal sciences.

NEWBERG: Kara Holveck, daughter of Robert and Karla Holveck, received a $500 Thornton FFA scholarship. The 1999 Newberg High School graduate is enrolled in agricultural and resource economics.

PENDLETON: Benjamin Clark, son of Andrew and Barbara Clark, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. He entered OSU from Blue Mountain Community College to study animal sciences and rangeland resources.

PHILOMATH: Staci Hering received a $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship to assist in her studies in animal sciences. She is a 1997 graduate of Philomath High School and the daughter of Tom and Sandi Hering.

PORTLAND: Hanna Brooks, daughter of Loren and Pirjo Brooks, received a $250 Friends of Oregon Agriculture scholarship. The Cleveland High School graduate is studying general agriculture.

PRINEVILLE: Kirk Davies, son of Lou and Mary Jo Davies, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. He is studying rangeland resources in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon University.

RAINIER: Mona Derby, daughter of Philip and Rebecca Derby, received a $1,500 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The Rainier High School graduate is majoring in fisheries and wildlife science.

RICKREALL: Kathleen Freeborn, daughter of Dean and Andrena Freeborn, received a $500 Thornton FFA scholarship. The 1999 Central High School graduate plans to major in agricultural business management.

ROSEBURG: Kathryn Zollner, daughter of Karen Mason, received the $1,500 Malcolm Johnson scholarship. The Mountain View High School graduate plans to study agricultural business management.

SALEM:

 

  • Jonathan Kuenzi, son of Glen and Shirley Kuenzi, received a $750 Cenex Harvest States Foundation scholarship. He is studying agricultural business management.

     

  • Anne Taylor, daughter of Shirley and Vernon Connolly, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. She is enrolled in the college's bioresource research program.

     

  • Jeremy Welty, son of Shirlee and Ron Welty, received a full tuition Don Burlingham scholarship valued at $3,561. He is majoring in horticulture.

SHERIDAN: Rhonda Kirkham, daughter of Robert and Sharon Kirkham, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship. The Willamina High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

SILVERTON: Brian Dietrich, son of James and Joan Dietrich, received a $750 Ursula Bolt Knaus scholarship and a $650 Ben and Phyllis Newell scholarship. The 1998 Silverton High School graduate is majoring in animal sciences.

SUBLIMITY: Joshua Horner, son of Frank and Barb Horner, received a $750 scholarship given by Cenex Harvest States Foundation. He entered OSU from Chemeketa Community College to study agricultural business management.

TANGENT: Cody Younger received a $1,000 Rod Frakes scholarship. The West Albany High School graduate plans to study crop and soil science. Younger's parent are Norm and Sharla Younger.

TILLAMOOK: Denise Josi, daughter of Donald and Desirae Josi, received the $1,800 Earl Meier Dairy Science Memorial scholarship. She entered OSU from Tillamook Bay Community College to study general agriculture.

WILLAMINA: Daniel Reid, son of Chris and Kathy Rankin, received a $750 Cenex Harvest States Foundation scholarship and the $550 Harry and Dorothy Schoth Memorial scholarship. The Willamina High School graduate is studying crop and soil science.

WOODBURN: Jacquelyn Zollner, daughter of Bernie and Catherine Zollner, received a full-tuition Don Burlingham scholarship valued at $3,561 and a $1,250 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate scholarship. The Woodburn High School graduate entered OSU from Blue Mountain Community College to study crop and soil science.

YAMHILL: Nancy Horacek, daughter of Ed and Linda Horacek, received a $1,000 H. H. Gibson Memorial scholarship. The 1999 graduate of Yamhill-Carlton High School plans to major in animal sciences.
