CORVALLIS - "Ideas Matter," the annual lecture series sponsored by the Department of Philosophy at Oregon State University, will begin its fall schedule on Oct. 12 with a panel discussion.
The series will focus this year on "Minds, Animals and Machines," a look at one of the basic questions of philosophy - what does it mean to be a human being.
OSU philosophers Bill Uzgalis and Jon Dorbolo will lead the Oct. 12 panel discussion, "Introduction to Minds, Machines and Animals: Descartes and Discourse V." It will begin at 4 p.m. in the MU East Forum.
All lectures in the series are free and open to the public.
