BEND - Two more leadership positions in marketing and operations have been made for the new Oregon State University Cascades Campus. Lori Gleichman, an expert in marketing, communications and project management, has been appointed the new director of marketing. Sandie Franklin has been named the new director of operations.

In her position, Gleichman will coordinate marketing of the new campus, media and community relations, development and management of special events, and other work needed to inform the Central Oregon community about the campus and the many new educational opportunities it will offer.

"We're very pleased to have someone with Lori's qualifications and strong background on our team," said Linda Johnson, associate provost for community relations and administration at the Cascades Campus. "In this first two years, her skills will be crucial to ensure that we reach our enrollment targets. She will also be instrumental in creating some of the arts and cultural events that will connect us more deeply to the Central Oregon community."

In her most recent position, Gleichman was senior communications manager for Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Seattle. Prior to that she was assistant vice president of public relations and manager of corporate communications for Safeco Corp. in Seattle. Gleichman has a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations from Washington State University and has received numerous career honors for her public relations and communications activities.

Franklin, who has a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University at Los Angeles, will manage finances and such issues as building construction at the new campus. For the past 10 years she has served as director of Printing and Mailing Services at OSU. "It's a major challenge to create and operate a new campus from the ground up, but that's part of what will make this such exciting work," Franklin said. "When we're done this is going to be an outstanding campus that Central Oregonians can take pride in."
