CORVALLIS - Communications specialist Kay Cooke has been named marketing manager for the Austin Family Business Program at Oregon State University's College of Business.

Cooke will direct efforts to increase awareness of the program's educational and informational benefits for family businesses through public relations, publications and events.

Cooke's prior experience includes a stint as communications director for the Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council in Vancouver, Wash. While at the council, she managed external and internal communications and public relations during the transition from the federal Job Training Partnership Act to the Workforce Investment Act. She also gained experience in private enterprise while running her own business.

Cooke has been in the public relations and marketing field for more than 20 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications and public information from The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Wash.
